International Women in Engineering Day (#INWED17) takes place on 23rd June annually. Set up in 2014 by the Women’s Engineering Society (WES) to celebrate its 95th anniversary, this awareness day focuses attention on the amazing careers in engineering and technical roles, especially for girls and young women, and celebrates the achievements of outstanding women engineers.
Nuvia is supporting today’s event by promoting profiles of our fantastic women employees on our website. Through our partnership with Warrington UTC Nuvia colleagues will also be inspiring future generations to pursue STEM roles by talking to students about their own engineering careers.
Women currently make up less than 10% of the engineering workforce in the UK. With a large skills gap looming and the additional need for a more diverse workforce, it has never been more important to inspire and encourage more people, especially women, to choose a career in engineering.
