Managers in the nuclear industry always strive to bring projects to a successful completion within budgetary and time constraints. This can be a difficult challenge, especially if the projects are complex or have novel aspects to them, and so a focused project risk management effort is required in order to predict and prevent problems.
The aim of this course is to provide delegates with an overview of the theory and skills underpinning project risk management. Delegates are introduced to methods which allow them to formulate a structured approach to identifying and assessing risks and enable management of a project to effectively minimise and mitigate those risks.
The course is focused on providing practical experience through the implementation of the techniques learnt in a risk assessment exercise.

The course is suitable for apprentices, graduates and all other personnel who are new to project risk management and require a general overview of the techniques and benefits of project risk management. No prior knowledge of project risk management is assumed.

- The technique of project risk management – components of a structured approach
Learning Outcomes
- Knowledge and understanding of what project Risk Management is, including the benefits it can bring and the definition of terminology such as threat, likelihood and impact, risk assessment, and risk management
- Steps in the risk management process including; identifying threats, assessing likelihood impact, and calculating risk
- Understanding the implications of the outcome of the risk assessment exercise
- Identifying possible responses and mitigations and the implications of their implementation
