RPI Service History

Historical RPI Calibration EquipmentIn the late 1950s the United Kingdom Atomic Energy Authority established a research site at Winfrith in Dorset. Since the 1960s, building A56 at Winfrith has been used to calibrate radiation monitoring equipment.

Pre 1984

Prior to 1984 the calibration system consisted of sources, pneumatically raised and suspended in a 'flight-tube'. The instrument under test was placed on the table, at a distance that had to be manually calculated.
