Contract Win In Canada

25 May 2010

Nuvia Limited has secured its first engineering contract in Canada. The project is with Canada’s largest nuclear utility, Ontario Power Generation. The customer is planning to refurbish four reactors starting in 2016 and requires suitable containers to store and transport reactor core components classified as intermediate level waste. In this Phase 1 of the contract Nuvia will lead an optioneering study with the customer to select the container concept most appropriate for their application. Once a preferred concept has been chosen Nuvia will carry out the detailed design work and will then be invited to tender for Phase 2; to build, test, and qualify the prototype container.

Marketing Director, Julianne Antrobus said, “This is a strategic opportunity for us in growing our international market and reputation. Congratulations to everyone involved in the tender and contract negotiations; an excellent job done. And good luck to Project Manager Jonathan Betts and his team on delivering this most important project."

An important part of the contract is reducing costs and environmental impact. On an environmental note we have already held numerous technical and contractual meetings with OPG via very successful video conferencing.
