New Chapter for NUKEM

30 May 2007

On 16 May 2007, NUKEM Limited (the UK arm of the international NUKEM Group) became the wholly owned subsidiary of Freyssinet SAS, itself a wholly owned subsidiary of the French construction giant, VINCI.

Dr Michael Down, Managing Director of NUKEM Limited, declared "We were delighted with the overwhelming interest taken by many major international companies all of whom were determined to retain the current successful NUKEM team. The efficiency and speed at which the process moved forward was a very positive reflection upon the quality and reputation of the Company.

We believe Freyssinet will provide the perfect environment for us to continue to grow both in the UK and overseas. They have an impressive international network and an enviable reputation in the French nuclear market. Added to this, the VINCI Group is one of the strongest in Europe and will give us tremendous backing - starting with the commitment they have shown for this acquisition. We are looking forward to the process of integration with our new parent Freyssinet and drawing upon the benefits of being part of such an outstanding international organisation. Together we can look forward to a new chapter in NUKEM Limited's growth."

Bruno Dupety, Chairman & CEO of Freyssinet, commented “We have been very impressed with the dedication and enthusiasm of NUKEM. We believe this acquisition will add strength and breadth to our already extensive nuclear capabilities and we look forward to developing and extending our Nuclear Division both in the UK and beyond.”

Through the sale, NUKEM Limited has relinquished its ties with its former parent company NUKEM GmbH but retains excellent working relationships and will continue to work with them.
